For everyone’s reference as well as my own I thought it might be a good idea to make a sticky topic with recommendations for different brake pads. If you have used a particular brand of pad let us know the following.
  • Name
  • Intended Use (Street (S) or Track (T) or combined Street and Track (ST))
  • Good  or Bad 
Where possible please list
  • Temp Range of Pad
  • Friction coefficient Range
  • Model Number, Price Paid and Place of Purchase

We can start a little database and it may help people with questions on what sort of pads to use for there car.

S13 - SR20DET

Front = Ferodo DS2500 - DB1232(bendix number) - $229 + 10post - Comp Friction ACT
Rear = Ferodo Xcel - DB325(bendix number) - $79 - Repco Villawood

I have found this combination good for street (haven't gotten to the track yet on these pads). They have reasonable power when cold, and are very good when warm. Dust isn't too bad, and rotor wear so far seems to be good also.

I use bendix ultimates all round and find them to be a great compomise between street and track. They can be a bit squealy though.

I have Project Mu B-Spec 0~500℃ 0.32~0.45 up front and paid $220 from shift performance. They work well and at the moment are only used on the street. Be prepared for heaps of brake dust but no noise...

If you have been asking for the pads at somewhere like Auto Barn, etc... they will tell you that the DS2500 doesn't exsist, and that the Formula are the best pads they have. This is because these are the pads they can stock/carry. I had this same problem when I was shopping around.

As Boxhead said, call Comp Friction, the lowest pad they carry from the Ferodo range is the DS2500's

Used Endless SSY's at Winton last Friday, good for about 3-5 hot laps then require a bit of a cool down. Need a little bit of warming up to get into their sweet spot on the street.

Endless SSY. Great for street/drag. Braking was a big improvement. Retail $230-$260

I have tried:

Front:
Ferodo DS2500, fine for street and exellent for track, holding up very well so far but expencive ($250 for fronts)

RB74 Pretty happy with them, good for the money. about $100 -$150 I think.

Rear:
Bendix ultimate, ok for street, ok for motorkhana, crap for heavy track work, overheated and decintergrated in one session - about $80.

'No name' sprint auto parts ones, absolute crap, decintergrated within 10 laps litterally no meat at all left on them. $30 (it was an emergeny I would have got something better if they had them in stock :D )

Lucas /TRW DB325 / GDB 386, great all round pad, fine on the street & motorkhana/drift, yet will hold up to extreme temps, I spent one day at mallala and did 50 laps where the front brakes were useless (fluid issues). Rear lucas pads were doing all the work and litterally smoking with the paint & lable on the pads melting off when I came back in the pits each time but they still held up fine and lasted another track day plus 6 months on the road - awsome value for $75 - $80, just ordered 2 more sets today I like them that much. They also do fronts for about $90 so keen to try them out next.

Another Vote for RB74s. Bit dusty but I found them more predicable then DS2500.
With vents they worked fine, without vents it felt like they were getting a bit warm.
140 a set.

Pretty sure there 0-650, not sure on coeffecient.

Endless SSY, purchased $160 front pads only. Don't really like them, initial braking is pretty average until pads warm up and brake fade after 10 minutes moderate track use...going to bleed my lines and see whether there's any improvement...

1. RG (Racing Gear) 80V
2. Track and very moderate track use
3. Not recommended stay away! Used with RG slotted rotors and grinded down to the the rotors being bald within 6 months. I think the compound of the pads are too rough, $500 rotors goneeeeeee.

temp 0-500'C
$195 a set at www.c-red.com.au

Project Mu B-Spec 0~500, (~$250, ~$230 from memory) nice progressive pad, great feel and havent had them fade street or track, pretty low dust, kind on rotors. Excellent stopping from cold, used street/track, great pads.

Endless SS-S 0-500,(~$290 fr, ~$230rr) excellent initial bite that takes a bit to get used to at first, as progressive as the Mu pads, I prefer em because of the intial bite, wash off speed without thinking. Also excellent from cold, not noisey but a bit dustier than the project mu, also kind on rotors. Used for street/track, great pads.

URAS drift spec rear pads on S13 ~ $220 - good bite, very good pad for handbrake, didnt get any fade, even (ab)using at high speed

Project Mu rear brake shoes (for brake drum) I put them in after upgrading my rear brakes, excellent bite at speed also (140kph+) even after repeated use ~ $220 (will probably be trying URAS drum shoes next, if these ever say enough)

Have also used, but will never touch again:

Bendix Ultimate - faded in the hills, pretty damn quickly too, also a very dusty pad - feel was a bit doughy

EBC Greenstuff - better than the ultimates, more progressive feel, but noisy and didnt work too well when cold and still got fade in the hills (not as quick or dramatic as the ultimates though), also a very dusty pad.

Factory pads - absolute utter garbage.

99 Pulsar SSS

Using EBC Blackstuff Pads with DBA Slotted rotors at the front
Using OEM pads with OEM discs at the back

The blackstuff is sticky as all shit. doesnt sag in the wet or fade when the temperatures get hot. Would highly reccomend them.

Only down fall is that they make a *swearing filters own me* load of brake dust. Like, wash ur wheels, go thrashing for 1 night and expect a tissue full of dust.

just my 2 cents

Ferodo DS2500 for SR20DET front calipers
For Street or Track...
Very good, I was worried the DET calipers wouldn't hold up at a track day, but they did just fine with these pads. The only thing I experienced was the pedal sinking but that's cause I was using normal fluid (Motul RPF600 here I come :P), but despite the pedal sinking they were still biting...! Gave me confidence to gain on alot of cars into Honda corner :D Did not seem to fade at all either?

The only problem is the brake dust! It's everywhere on my white rims but pfft who cares :P

Apparently the temp range is rated from 0-500?

I got the pair for $265 delivered from some place in Queensland which I forgot the name of... but they were very friendly and helpful to deal with. His name was Chris? I'll try to find out a name if anybody wants one :P

pretty sure they would be rated higher than 500degrees and the price you paid was fair.
