Putting a CA18DET in a R31 Pintara? Considering it comes with CA20E.

Hey

as question states, would it be worth putting a ca18det instead of the ca20? Should be able to dress it up to look stock in case the police check

definately possible, and has been done. I've actually heard the non turbo CA18 is easier to fit (duh) but still suprisingly quick in the pintaras. I reckon if you're going to bother at all, go all out with an rb20. no point going half way.

Adding the CA into a Pintara with a CA20 is a cheap option. I know in series 3 bluebirds you can even use the CA20 gearbox with a CA and only slight modifications.

Why a Pintara though? Got one sitting around?

DET obviously is harder to fit because it has a turbo on it, not a major thing, but its extra parts to install, not a huge deal though.

And if youre going to bother doing an engine swap to a turbo at all, might as well go for an RB20, its faily common in the r31 pintaras and from the one i've seen before, those things fly!
