Wheels to suit a 180SX Type X

Recommended Posts

Most of you dont know I purchased a 180sx Type X a couple weeks ago off a fellow forum member.

I got it on S14 stock wheels and Im slowly realizing how bad they look lol.

Im on the look out for some wheels, preferably under $2000. The car has a 5 stud conversion. Dont want Rota's, Varrosteon (whatever the spelling is) etc

So far Ive really thought of 2 decent choices.

At first I really wanted to go with R33 GTR wheels, they look good, forged, OEM. But by the time I get spacers for them they will be almost the price of a decent set of wheels. Im still tempted to get them, might even spray them a few shades darker to suit the white paint.

Second choice. I have been semi keen on Blitz 03's, I love them but I dont know what size is good. I dont want my car slammed. Still 50/50 on them since they look like a stance wheel but boy do they look nice. + all my mates have been telling me to get them. 17's or 18's? ps. are the wheels staggered in the photo below or am I seeing things?

.... and thats it. Im all out of ideas, what do you guys suggest?

Thanks for the replies, decided Im going to get RPF1 from Autotechnik here in Sydney.

Now the real question is, what size to get?

Been doing lots of research so far I am looking at 17x9.5 +18. What do you guys think?

Have a look here if you see any other appropriate sizes let me know.

Black TE37's Ash laugh.png

Cheers,

Andy

The dream would be bronze TE37's, in 17x9.5 +12 lol.

I saw a set for sale here and gave them an email but they were unfortunately sold.

Might wait on the wheels now, since TE37's would be absolutely perfect on it.

I agree on S13 Silvias and normal 180sx's, but on a Type X I think they look amazing.

I dont like the staggered sizing people do regardless of wheel. 17" is big enough for 13s.

17 x 9.5 +12 will poke out a fair bit, is that what you're after?

Well the rear of the car is flared a bit, and the fronts will be cambered too so they should be fine from all the other photos Ive seen.

Start a build thread dude, I'm keen to see your new s13.

Nothing really to "build" upon it as it's pretty perfect as is, previous owner did all the mods I would of done. New wheels and I'll be set lol.

Happy the old girl has moved into a good home!

Nothing wrong with stagger!

But yeah, def look into 9 +22. If the rear is flared and you will run neg camber on the front they will be perfect.

Imo 9.5 +12 sticks out way too much

17X9 +22 is the best fit for a 180. my enkeis are that.

17x8 +22 isnt even that bad - my buddy clubs look OK with 245s.

Still want to get back on my RPF1s though.

Are the 17x9s flush with the guard? So would that make the 17x8s go in a bit? Or are they just better without heaps of camber and rolled guards?

I'm maybe a year off getting some wheels, but I've been thinking 17x8 might be good.

Another thing I think would be wise to consider is which tyre sizes will fit and which ones are more common and therefore cheaper haha. Don't want a rare tyre size that costs a fortune to replace tyres. Do you have a recommendation about cheaper common sizes for 17s?
